Pure bamboo feels incredible and wears out fast
Bamboo viscose has the softest hand in the sock aisle, but on its own it is also one of the weakest. It is a regenerated cellulosic fiber, closer to rayon than to cotton, so a near-pure bamboo sock pills, goes slack at the cuff, and loses its shape within weeks. That is the trap a young bamboo line walks into: the swatch that felt like cashmere in the showroom comes back as a return a month later. The answer is not more bamboo, it is the right blend and the right knit.
Blended and knit to hold its hand
As a private-label and OEM manufacturer, Sihman Inc. engineers bamboo around that weakness. We carry the bamboo viscose for the silky surface, add combed cotton for body, and knit in a measured percentage of polyamide and elastane for recovery, so the sock keeps both its feel and its fit through repeated washing. The blend ratio is yours to tune at sampling, traded off against price, and locked into your spec before any bulk run.
A typical bamboo build we knit
- Fiber: 70 to 80% bamboo viscose, balance combed cotton, with 2 to 5% elastane for recovery
- Gauge: 144N or 168N for a fine, smooth surface, with an optional cushioned or flat-knit footbed
- Lengths: no-show, ankle, crew, and knee-high all run on the same blend
Label it accurately, claim it honestly
Bamboo is the one fiber where the marketing can outrun the law. US textile rules require fabric made from bamboo by the viscose process to carry the rayon or viscose qualifier on the label, and unqualified “antibacterial” or “biodegradable” bamboo claims have drawn regulator scrutiny. We knit to your spec, label to your exact fiber content, and can pair bamboo with organic-cotton or recycled-content yarns backed by our OCS (Organic Content Standard) certification where the organic blend qualifies. You supply the artwork and own the on-pack story; we supply the fiber, the make, and the paperwork that keeps it defensible. Every pair is produced at a minimum tariff at our facility in Turkiye, from a first sampling run to repeat orders of 5,000+ pairs.
