Sihman
Overview

The dress sock has to disappear, and stay up

A dress sock is judged by what the wearer never notices: a fabric thin enough to vanish inside a close-fitting leather shoe, a toe seam that cannot be felt across the toes, and a welt that grips over the calf through a twelve-hour day without slipping to the ankle. A generic sock usually fails at least one of those, and a slouching or seam-ridged sock quietly undercuts the tailored look it was meant to finish. Holding all three at once is a knitting problem, and it is the one we build around. As a private-label and OEM manufacturer, Sihman Inc. knits dress socks on high-needle machines for a true fine gauge, in mercerized or Modal yarns for sheen, with a hand-linked toe that leaves no ridge.

Gauge, yarn, and length, set to your shelf position

Where a dress sock sits in your range decides how it should be knit, so we fix these before sampling:

  • Gauge: 168 to 200 needles for a thin, smooth fabric that reads as premium and holds crisp pattern detail, against the coarser 108 to 144 of a casual crew.
  • Yarn: mercerized combed cotton for everyday sheen, Modal for a silky hand, or fine merino for cool-season and luxury tiers.
  • Length: mid-calf for standard wear, over-the-calf for formalwear that has to stay up all day.
  • Toe: hand-linked or seamless, so there is no ridge under a dress shoe.

One coordinated range, knit to a single spec

Menswear and formalwear ranges are sold as coordinated families, so a navy you ship in March has to match the navy you reorder in September, and a pin-dot has to register identically across every size run. We lock your patterns, color standards, and finishing into one spec sheet and hold it from sampling through repeat runs of 5,000+ pairs, where per-pair pricing is strongest. Woven labels, hang tags, and boxed or gift presentation are all knit and finished in-house.

What you bring, and what we knit

You supply the artwork and the color standards. We supply the fine-gauge knitting, the yarn selection, and the smooth-toe finishing, and we run it all at our own factory in Turkiye, which ships into the US and EU at a minimum tariff, so a genuinely premium make does not arrive with a premium landed cost.

Key features

Built to your spec

01

Fine-gauge knit

High-needle machines produce a thin, smooth fabric and crisp pattern detail that sits cleanly under a dress shoe and reads as premium.

02

Mercerized sheen

Mercerized cotton gives a subtle lustre and a smooth hand that elevates the sock's perceived quality on shelf and on the foot.

03

Hand-linked smooth toe

A hand-linked or seamless toe removes the ridge across the toes for an undetectable, comfortable finish.

04

Refined patterns

Ribs, pin-dots, stripes, herringbone, and small motifs reproduce sharply at fine gauge for a sophisticated range.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What makes a dress sock feel premium?
Fine-gauge knitting, a mercerized or Modal yarn for sheen and smoothness, and a hand-linked toe with no ridge. We build all three to your spec and confirm the finish at sampling.
Can you produce over-the-calf lengths?
Yes. Mid-calf and over-the-calf are both standard; over-the-calf suits formalwear ranges that need full coverage that stays up.
How detailed can the patterns be?
Fine gauge holds crisp detail, so pin-dots, fine stripes, herringbone, and small motifs all reproduce cleanly in your brand colors.
Do you knit merino or wool dress socks?
Yes. For cool-season and luxury tiers we knit fine merino-wool and wool-blend dress socks at the same high needle count, keeping the thin profile and sheen while adding warmth. You choose the blend at sampling and we confirm the hand and the pricing before any bulk run.
